I am successfully using a WDC PR2100 as my Plex Media Server and houser of all my media. I have been manually updating the PMS system as upgrades are released and am now up to current (1.15.0.659). Firmware on My Cloud is most recent (2.31.149).
Just a few days ago I started receiving alerts from my My Cloud device that “An update is available for the following apps: Plex Media Server”. These alerts come once a day, sometimes more often.
Problem is, when I dig down, the WDC device wants to “update” me to PMS 1.7.2.3878 (!). Apparently there is some Western Digital issue where they are trying to upgrade users from the pre-release version of PMS that came with the My Cloud device.
Does anyone know a way to suppress these alerts? Or better yet, how to tell Western Digital that we’re already running on a far more updated version of PMS? (I don’t mind getting update alerts from my My Cloud - as long as they’re accurate and in sync with Plex.)
I too have this on my PR4100. I went to the WD settings->notifications->and set critical only. This seems to get rid of the message but the NAS still wants to download an old version. I get the latest from Plex direct for the server.
