I need help. I have a WD PR2100 with 4 tb ( 2 x 2 TB drives) I have this setup with JBOD. I’m sure this was a mistake but I have about 1 tb total on there now.
I am looking to get more storage as I want to start adding more Blu ray movies and expect I’ll need more space. I’m planning to get a couple of 6 TB WD RED or maybe larger. I’m just clueless how to add these without having to redo everything.
Can I backup the server to an external hard drive. Then swap out the drives and transfer the data back over from the external drive? I’m just lost on this. I definitely have it set as JBOD and not spanning so I thought I could maybe take out one but now I’m truly confused. If anyone has advice or guidance it would be greatly appreciated.
Also since its JBOD could I just change the second drive that has nothing on it yet (volume 2) and put in a larger capacity drive like a 6 or 8 tb? I thought maybe if its JBOD i could change one drive and keep the data on the other. I just didnt know if the drives needed to match? Thanks everyone.
