Web content streaming query / multicast?

Assuming I want to stream from the iPlayer plugin, a stream to multiple devices of the same type, can Plex multicast / simulcast the stream to ease bandwidth restraints?

Example in question, I have 3 Roku devices, on the same local network. I want to stream BBC Live TV to all three devices. Would this open 3 streams to the BBC or would it consume a single external network feed, transcode and stream this out to the clients?

That’s a good question, I don’t know the answer but I’d guess that it would be as if each device had a discrete connection to the iplayer and requested whatever quality it wanted. I don’t think plex would do any transcoding for this.

I could be completely wrong about this though

Worst case I’ll get a TVHeadend server up with a tuner and distribute the stream internally, I’m just hoping to avoid that if possible and preserve my internet bandwidth.
