I’ve just tried going to my web interface and instead of the usual UI and user selection, I get an XML document with a top-level node containing a bunch of nodes. I can get access to the server itself if necessary but what should I do to get the UI back?
I’m using Chrome on Windows 10 to access the web interface. I’ve just downloaded a server update in the last 24 hours but I don’t know if it’s installed or not (because I can’t get in to check).
Hi both. No, I’ve been going to http://IP_ADDRESS:32400 . Until now, that’s how I’ve successfully reached the web frontend; it’s never served XML to me before. It seems to me unusual to require the user to memorise a path on top of a server/port – usually one would expect to go to the server root and be redirected to the web interface as necessary.
So I now have a way to get to the web interface by changing my bookmarks (so thanks for that). Does anybody know why this has changed? I can certainly foresee that in the future I’ll forget the particular path I need and run into this again.
Okay, but that requires Internet access which I don’t always have – if the Internet has gone down and I want to watch something or administer the server, I need a local address. (Although I think Plex couldn’t cast without Internet access last time I tried so that might be a moot point, but I assume that’s a known problem.)
Authentication in general needs internet access, so several features which you think are within your local network might not work if you don’t have internet access.
Okay, that’s interesting. I realise this is now off-topic so please point me elsewhere if there’s documentation on this, but in a no-Internet situation I’d be happy with a reduced feature-set – how can I enable that or request it as a change? (eg just playing any videos using local accounts.)
