When the user has navigated inside a collection, then the usual Shift hotkey to quickly select multiple items and make edits, does not work. Only Command/Control click works here.
I agree that Shift-clicking to select a range of items doesn’t work inside a Collection.
What do you expect Command/Control clicking to do?
To work precisely as it does in library view, in the rest of applications.
In other common applications & interfaces, Command/Control clicking are useful for adding/removing individual items from a selection, or for making a disjoint selection.
In my experience that hasn’t been necessary with Plex. Once a single item is selected, you can add/remove other items by simply clicking them.
I don’t see much difference between Command/Control clicking and normal clicking.
Which is why I asked. Maybe I’m missing something. I’m curious.
We’re in the midst of a gradual rewrite of our app and the details pages, like the Collection details or other media details pages have been completed first.
We will no longer support ctrl/cmd clicking on items to start a selection, but range selection using shift will be returning in the future.
It was not completed in time for the details pages to launch, but will be included in some upcoming work.
Please do not take away shift selection. For large collections, it is critical that many videos can be selected at once. The only other way to manage our content would be to force convert everything to MKV and run mass metadata changes with mkvpropedit, not exactly user friendly compared to pressing Shift and clicking.
