Just brought a Nvidia tube, was having stuttering problems, but was an old build so updated and the movie worked ok, just gone to watch another movie and i get stuttering and audio drops every 2 -3 seconds from server to client is gigabit ethernet
and as reported in other posts Kodi runs buttery smooth so a Plex problem
got it from currys, ill wait a while and see if plex can fix things, if not ill just buy a PRO version ive been battleing the perfect device for watching my movie collection for years now , currently have a LG 55 C7, pioneer vsx-930 receiver, and some Q aqustics 5.1 set up, starting using the plex app on the LG but no passthrough for audio, then got a RTX 2070 super and madVR with Kodi but just a ball ach getting it all to play nice, so i thought nvidia sheild seems to be the complete solution
It is a plex issue, and they know it.
When every app other than plex plays fine, it’s pretty clear where the problem lies, same problems on a wide variety of deviceses.
Mayby they need to make a “lite” version for the sheild TV that’s striped of all the crap and just allows playback of local media or a plex server, none of this dvr, live, and free movies crap
I’ve Plex Player 8.5.0.19697 running on my Shield 2017.
Playback is stuttering on this, it’s a 2.5GB 1920*1080 265 MKV file. The server whilst low powered is hardly breaking a sweat.
Bloody annoying, as it pauses for a few seconds every 20 seconds or so. But then I restart and it’s ok…
My idea exactly. Latest version seemed to be doing well on first run of a ~70Mbit 4K HDR Remux with the old player but a second run stuttered like hell again and crashed. So back to Kodi or the built-in WebOS app…that unfortunately doesn’t do Atmos and Vision…
The official plug-in has much of the same issues as the app. You need to use the PKC (PlexKodiConnect) plugin to access your Plex Libraries while using the Kodi system. I use the Plex app for 1080p or lower resolutions and PKC for anything higher.
