Western Digital Plex Help

Is there anyone that understands the Plex logs for WD devices? My system is crashing and I don’t know why.

I’m happy to pay someone (PayPal or similar)…

Enable debug only (not verbose) for you logs and wait for a crash

Wait a minute or two and gather your logs from the troubleshooting section in the Plex settings

Post your logs here so someone can take a look

Hi JaysPlex7,

Really appreciate the response! I have logs from last nights crash. I don’t see where I can upload them.

You can just drag them into the box here where you type

Don’t I feel dumb… Thanks!!
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-10-02_11-03-32.zip (1.9 MB)

I don’t see any database corruption which is about all I can check for myself

You’ll need to wait for somebody who’s more experienced reading logs to help out

Thanks so much for trying!!

What happened with Plex? Could you not access the server, not see libraries, would media not play, etc?

What time did the problem occur?

There is no crash in the log files.

The only time Plex Media Server stopped is when it was manually shut down.

Oct 02, 2023 10:57:50.350 [2999677808] DEBUG - Ordered to stop server.

It was then restarted 24 seconds later:

Note that during scheduled maintenance, Intro Detection failed for episode four of 1883. Plex could not analyze the AAC audio stream (Intro Detection is based on audio).

This did not cause a crash.

Plex proceeded to analyze other episodes after the analysis failed for episode four.

The maintenance tasks proceeded and finished normally:
Oct 02, 2023 05:04:39.556 [2856219504] DEBUG - Butler: Done doing work.

Still, suggest you move the episode to a place not visible by Plex (then rescan the library & empty trash). The failed intro detection filled the log files with errors (200000+), potentially causing useful information to roll out (the logs have size limits).

Then if you run into problems again, restart Plex, wait 2 minutes, then pull a fresh set of log files.

Hi FordGuy61,

Thank you so much for taking the time to look through the logs. What’s been happening is sometime through the night the server simply stops working. It no longer registers as a server in the Plex app. They only way I can get it to come back is to go to WD and stop and start the process. It then works well until sometime in the night.

I’m doing what you suggested. I removed the bad file and have emptied trash. The library is begin rebuilt “Refresh All Metadata”. Hopefully this will work.

The logs have a ton of network errors. Has anything changed with your NAS, the router or switch(s) in between?

Hi Kaelaria,

The NAS is new. I’ve only had it a month or so. It replaced an older one I’ve had for a while.

I’ll have a look at my router and see what’s going on. Can you point me to the log files that have the network errors? I’d like to learn more.
