Wetek Hub + OpenPHT -- How do I do that?

I don’t see any guide/link to how to get it installed on a Wetek Hub.

It is super easy and, as it happens, I plan to spend this weekend making a comprehensive tutorial that walks through the entire process from creating the install media all the way through configuration and customization. I expect to have it up by early next week.

THANKS! Curiously, do you recommend the Core or Hub?

Go for the Hub.

For short guide;
Turn on Wetek Hub and update the Hub (booting from Nand) - this will change the OS (not needed) and the bios.
Load the Openpht image onto a 16GB mSD card with Win32 Disk Imager.
Put mSD card into Wetek Hub.
Power on.
Hold power button to boot from mSD
Presto !

So I did that. Loaded the system, no SD card in. Updated it as much as possible, no more updates. Downloaded the Hub version of OpenPHT, formatted to FAT32, used Win32 Disk Imager, put it in, and (the Wetek) NEVER recognizes the mSD. I think it may be a faulty slot.

I went ahead and put the mSD connected to a USB reader and put it in the Wetek and the Storage Settings recognized it. But it will not work in the mSD slot :frowning:

Any idea?

This is going to sound stupid, but I was dumb enough to do it, so here it goes:

Did you try flipping the card over? Make sure the contacts are facing up, not down. The card will go in upside down, due to the way the slot is constructed. It won’t click like it is supposed to, but it will slide in all the way.

I am working on the videos I mentioned before, but the learning curve for the Elgato capture device, Snagit and OpenShot is definitely slowing me down. I should have something up soon, but I may not get them all done this weekend.

The first video is an introduction to dedicated Plex clients and it is up as of this evening.

The rest will be rolled out over the next week or two and will cover

  • Creating Installation Media
  • Network and Plex Setup
  • Video Setup
  • Audio Setup
  • Home Screen and Main Menu Configuration
  • Library Configuration

Just load the image onto the sd card - no need to bother with formatting.
Are you pressing the power button to boot from the sd card ? (think its pressing and holding down)

Also, like stated above, make sure the card is the right way into the slot.

Just making sure - you using this image ? https://github.com/RasPlex/OpenPHT/releases/download/v1.8.0.148-573b6d73/OpenPHT-Embedded-1.8.0.148-573b6d73-WeTek_Hub.aarch64.img.gz ?

I also take it that you extract the img file using winrar ? and using Win32 disk imager to write the .img to the SD card ?
Just making sure all the right steps are followed. I have done this loads of times now with no issues.

Thanks for your response. The SD card slot is buggy. I’m getting a replacement
