Recently I have been encountering movies, T.V. shows and a few other video’s that will not play via the Plex client. All of these instances are with media files that already existed on the server and have worked fine. Some are rarely used files others are used often (mostly stuff my kid watches). I am unable to find any problems in the logs and when I play the files locally via a different player they work fine. Rebooting did not resolve the issue. If I optimize a video in Plex for playback it will work properly but I have just found that this is a more wide spread issue than I realized and would appreciate any help locating the issue. Whatever it is seems to be a issue playing a file because whenever I find one it fails to play on any player (Roku, web, android, smart tv). The majority of my library is .mkv if that makes a difference.
I have noticed the Movies with that do not play are all movies that are being transcoded in video format. Also even though on the player screen it displays the circle;e of doom, if I go to the dashboard and hover over what is playing it shows the movie playing. Viewing a movie on Plex on a pc, with a movie that does not play if I move my mouse on the timeline the movie can be seen but the timeline itself in not clickable.
