What do I do if TV recordings are labeled incorrectly?

I’m recording some shows off my OTA antenna from PBS for my kids. They like Dinosaur Train and Wild Kratts.

But I’m finding that almost every single episode is labeled wrong. I’m guessing this is a problem with the programming guide. The recordings are tagged with a season and episode number, and the metadata it’s matching for that is correct, but the actual video is a completely different episode almost every time.

I know that I can manually go in and watch the recordings, try to figure out what episode it is and rename the files, but that’s an awful lot of work. Maybe there’s no way around it for these that are already recorded, but is there maybe some way to fix this so future recordings have accurate names? My kids get surly when they episode they think they’re picking based on the thumbnail is completely different.

I haven’t really played around with recording from anyone but PBS.

Maybe the EPG is pulling data from the wrong PBS station? I have two that my antenna can technically reach, I believe. Or maybe the PBS station is just run poorly and they advertise one show will be running but actually air a different one.

The problem is that each episode is actually two episodes. So the second episode to air is actually episodes 3 and 4, at least according to thetvdb.com. I have the same problem with Dinosaur Trail and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

I haven’t found a solution yet. I wouldn’t have a problem going through them and fixing them, but then it would start recording episodes again because it wouldn’t find episode two, for example, because now it’s marked as episode three.

I don’t think there’s anything Plex can do about it, unfortunately. They get their episode metadata over the air, so it’s actually PBS’s fault.

I just wish there was a way I could “Fix Incorrect Match” for a specific episode, like we can with movies, rather than just be forced to rename the file and hope Plex refreshes with the correct metadata based on that. I’m have a problem with Doc McStuffins where it won’t pull down the correct episode metadata even though I have the episodes named correctly, but since I can’t manually fix a match on a per-episode basis, I’m out of luck. (Sorry, I strayed a bit from the topic at hand.)
