What do the A and V mean?

I’ve got someone watching something from my server and in the information at the bottom – where it says which user it is, what device they are on, and where they are located – there is an a A and a V on the left side.

Any idea what this stands for?

A = audio stream transcoding
V = video stream transcoding
neither = direct play
only A = direct stream

Of course. thanks!

We’re getting a V during an audio only transcode - when the video is remuxed.

Suggest another, or different V when that happens:
Green V - remux.
Red V - transcoded video.
or
VR - Video Remux
V - Video Transcode
or something clever you come up with. <—like not show a V at all for a remux.

We’d like to have the full story from Plexdash - without having to go to Dashboard to see what’s really happening.

If so, that would be a bug. Can you send /status/sessions output when you’re seeing that?

That’s exactly what should be happening (and does in my testing).

That’s exactly our goal too :slight_smile:

No, but that guy in the thread I linked probably could.
It’s actually off topic a bit, but the link goes directly to the post in question.
Sounds like a Split is in order.

Here we go:

I’d have to ‘break’ a file for a Direct Stream - but I will look around for something I haven’t fixed yet.

I think you’re reading that thread wrong. I didn’t mention it there since it’s off topic, but the 2 images are from different clients so you can’t tell what’s happening.
