What does Plex want to delete from the library, and why?

Somewhat surprisingy, Plex apparently decided today it wants to delete Karajan from my library. Or maybe it only wants to delete one album, who really knows.
Why it would want to do so, while it can play any single track from that album without any problems, I have no idea.

So, what’s going to happen if I adventurously click on Library > Empty Wastebasket?!

It doesn’t “want” to delete.
The trashcans mean that some of the files were not accessible when the Server tried to access then last time (usually during a library scan or during the maintenance period).
This happens often if you are using external hard drives or networked media storage.

Ensure that all hard drives are present and accessible, then perform another library scan. This should clear up those trash cans.

Today’s fourth or fifth library scan has just finished right now.
So far, nothing seems changed – Karajan and a single album still show the trashcan icon.

The files are and have always been on the same NAS disk plex is on. I updated metadata for all of them a few days back (see screenshot). The reason the directory shows a changed date of today is because I deleted a subdirectory with some jpg files in it, hoping that this might make Plex pick up the fact that the files are here and accessible.

However, I find that Plex sometimes can be quite stubborn in what metadata it deigns to update.

BTW: if I did “Empty Trash” for this library, what would Plex delete: the artist and all of his albums or the one single album?

Only the album which has the trash can on it.

If you change embedded meta data and want Plex to pick up the changes, you will have to Plex Dance

It seems to have worked, thanks a bunch!
