So in the latest update I noticed that folder view is now gone. I liked that cause I can play items that it can’t match. Plus some folder I have just have odds and ends in them with no ID3 tags. I guess I’ll have to look for anyone app that can play music. Just seems like Plex takes more out than what they put in now days.
Folder view is still there.
Go to your Music (or any other library)
Click library at the bottom.
Click the square made up of 9 dots at the top.(Next to filter and sort).
Voila.
A choice of list, grid and folder view.

Yeah I saw that after I posted.
I tried in my iPhone 7 6.11.1 and everything is accessible and plays.

Does anyone know if they are working on a fix for the IPAD client? the folder view still doesn’t work. I can find it, it just won’t go into the folder, it trys to “play” the folder and says it not a supported file type.
I am using the PLEX app on my iPhone and 2 iPads. The folder view option in library mode has disappeared. Now I only have grid and list view. I have a an iPad Pro which still has the folder view option. Is there someway to get this option back on the other PLEX apps

I am experiencing the same issue with my iPhone 7, Apple TV device and LG smart TV.
Folder view is really important to me and a main reason I paid for a life time subscription. I have too many videos and too many flac recordings to tag them all. Folder view lets me access my music as I want to find it. Please fix this asap.
I got the same Problem on Apple TV (only on it, not on the other Devices)

Been two months sense I opened this, and still folder view is MIA. I just use another app that’s when I’m at home. When I’m not at home I use Spotify as a replacement to Plex, sense it looks like they have no plans on returning it.
What are you still missing?
The issue from back in May where clicking on a folder didn’t actually open it has long been fixed (according to the release announcements, this should have been fixed with Plex for iOS 6.12.1). Just re-tested this on Plex for iOS 7.3 and it’s working just fine.
Edit: as pointed out by Hitsville and in many other threads… it’s not gone or MIA.
Folders is not a “view” (like grid view, summary view, list view) – folders is part of the “display mode” of your library where you can pick what aspect of your media is displayed:
For movies:
- Movies
- Folders
For tv shows:
- Shows
- Seasons
- Episodes
- Folders
For music:
- Artists
- Albums
- Tracks
- Folders
Under views, I have grid and list. no folder. It’s on IOS and I’m on the latest version. Also on my Ipad.
Tap on ARTISTS on the left corner and you’ll find Folders view as an option. Don’t ask me why it’s there and not in the obvious location. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Crap, you’re correct. So I guess they didn’t remove it just moved it. Which I love because I can never find anything.
