What happened to these recordings?

I’ve been running the Plex DVR through its paces since cutting the cord a week ago. Prior testing of recording one show a week was working fine. I wanted to test it a little further last night, so I set up three different recordings (only two concurrent). The recording schedule indicates 100% complete, but they don’t show up in my TV Shows library.

Any thoughts?

(Please don’t hold the shows I recorded against me! I was just selecting something that was readily available last night. Promise.)

What version PMS are you running

Yeah, having lots of this also and the latest v1.8 doesn’t fix it. I saw a Ninja/Employee wanting logs on another similar thread so feel free to post up here for them.
Looks like it fails to stop recording correctly (the .grab files don’t grow any bigger for me, but plex doesn’t register the programs finishing). This prevents the tuner’s from being released. Any sort of manual cancelling/stopping of the recordings causes them to be deleted.

The version shipped with the Nvidia Shield TV. Version 1.7.4.4017

Hmmm… that must be why I can’t tube in live TV, either.

cant offer anything without that sorry. Common issue on 1.7, going back to 1.6 seems to fix, 1.8 so far has fixed for me.

Ya, this looks similar to the above, no?

@toffs yes, it is the first post I have seen post 1.8 and no one has responded to it yet. I have had many successful recordings since upgrading to 1.8, 1.7 was almost unusable with these errors for me, so may not be completely fixed but sure seems good so far for me. I am holding my breathe though

Hello,

This is my first post to these forums, so please be gentle!

I have been having a similar issue with DVR. I am running 1.8 on Windows 10 NUC, no post-processing, and the files are all stored locally.

Basically, I have no trouble scheduling recordings, and they seem to record (I get a popup on the plex GUI when they begin and the recording icon appears), plex thinks they’ve recorded (they are marked as 100% complete), but after they are finished, they are not present in the assigned Plex folder and no files are present when I go directly to the folder in my explorer and look.

Interestingly, Plex has no problem recording some shows (PBS Newshour) but won’t record other shows (Curious George). Perhaps Plex is trying to tell me something about the quality of my selections?

I’ve tried looking at the log but haven’t got too far in figuring it out. Any help would be VERY much appreciated!

Look in log to see if Garbage Collection is removing the recording after it is done.

Still having the issue in 1.8 on Synology. I actually had been running pretty smoothly on 1.7 since I setup a daily service restart but today by the afternoon recordings had started doing that 100% complete but not actually finishing error again.

How often is the PMS for nVidia Shield updated? If 1.8 is more reliable than the current version, I’d like to get it bumped up soon.

The official release normally fallows the public release.

To get early release on the Shield you must subscribed to the beta program.

Can you find the recordings in the .grab directory under the library? This has been a common theme in the most recent releases of PMS.

I used the web interface to delete the recordings, then an unexpected error occurred leaving everything worked. I restarted the Shield and the recordings were gone and I could watch live TV again.

On a related note: I set up a couple of recordings to test again. Now they are shown as completed, but no files exists for them (nothing in revenge or in the .grab folder, either).

This is going south real fast.

I’m experiencing the same issue.Scheduled recordings appear successful but no files exist.

@greeko any log entries regarding garbage Collection after the recording ends or is it just hung like the OP showed in his recording calendar view?

This happens to a lot of users when post processing fails and it gets hung up in the grab folder. I’ve personally never had the issue but may be because I have my server set to transcode on the fly so by the time it gets to post-processing, there’s really nothing left for it to do.

I exported the logs however this contained 50 + files, is there a particular log name to look for so I can provide better feedback?
Example of naming convention for some of the files consist of Plex.DLNA, PLex Media Scanner, com.plexappp.agents. ect

Thanks in advance.

Plex Media Server is where you would see the recordings
