What is the best graphic card to transcode 4K media with Intel core i7 4790 3.6GHz CPU?

I think you still do not understand…

graphics/gaming performance does not matter for plex.

buy the cheapest of those 4.

Thank you very much. I got it now. Any advice about power supply too. Currently I’m using 320w PSU.

cheers

I would simply suggest you add up the watts of all major components (cpu/gpu/motherboard/drives) and use an applicable PSU with some extra to spare.

MSI recommends 450 W for a 1660, so your’s might be a little bit to weak.

You can try it and see if works out and if not, buy a stronger one.

Thank you very much. Then I will try it with existing PSU. I hope It won’t blow up

Thank you very much. What do you think about buying a used/preowned graphic card? do you recommend it?

cheers

As with buying anything secondhand buy at your own risk

Hi @Anuruddha,

I am not an expert but most people use NVIDIA Quadro P2000 or the 4000 model.
I think Plex has some issues to transcode from 4k to a lower resolution… so I am not sure that it will work.

Hope you can find a solution… If you do please leave a message.

yes I heard it too. But nvidia quadro p2000 and p4000 cards are very expensive. I don’t have that much for budget

Hi guys I’m back. I have a major issue to upgrade the power supply of HP Elitedesk 800 G1. Workstation comes with HP custom PSU. So only option is using 24 pin to 6 pin adapter (https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-EliteDesk-800-PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cable-30cm.html) but It looks like it has HP 515 error on boot. I have ordered sata 15 pin to 6 pin PCIE power adapter and sata 15 pin to 8 pin PCIE power adaptor from ebay to give external power to VGA.

In my pc, it has

  • 1TB 7200rpm sata HDD
  • 240GB sata SSD
  • DVD ROM (I can disconnect the power )

So what is the best graphic card for 320W PSU?

Some people suggests Nvidia Geforce 1050ti. But I’m looking for best card I can go with external power

cheers

Recently I bought a MSI GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB ARMOR OC VGA card.

Thank you.
