Have you tried some h265 2160p in direct play with your configuration?
So why my fire tv has some problems with that specific h265? Slow slow buffering with lags.
No problems with iPad.
What metadata can i provide you? For the confirmation of problem in the fire tv.
Definitely not Sony, they will remove the app 6 months after you got it and offer 0 alternatives or compensationâŠ
I have a 2018 Vizio M55-F0 and the TVâs Plex app works great!
Sony in 2012 , it doesnât play mkv. The only one.
Format file? Direct play? Resolution?

Sony whipped the rug out from under us, some of the TVs were only 6 months old.
I will never buy another Sony TV again.
Omg
None. Plex abandon support for smart TVs and then claim they never supported them or itâs not their problem. If a TV manufacturer stops updating their software then by the next version of Plex the developers will have made some change that breaks the old and now un-updatable app on the TV and youâre stuck. They have done it to Sony and Samsung already
I know lots of people are talking about the Shield, but really, if you have decent wifi and youâre not trying to stream huge 4K video files, a Roku Streaming Stick+ or a FireTV 4K would be just fine with a new TV. I have all three, and the Roku gets the most use, except for the rare times when I want full-quality audio on larger speakers. Then I use the Shield.
Like a lot of people here, my house has abandoned the onboard smart apps.
Format file: Plex DVR recordings, so Transport Stream (.ts) and ripped movies, .m4v
Direct Play: Yes
Resolution: 1080 with 5.1 surround. I donât have anything on Plex above an HD BluRay.
I have a Shield, an HTPC and⊠a bluray player. As far as the image quality is concerned from the best to the worst (all other things beeing equal)

With the Shield, as it is reported here https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/267201/shockingly-bad-video-quality-with-kodi-and-plex-on-shield-tv/ I have âLots of pixellation particularly in dark scenes and a very poor faded looking colourâ. It is not a matter of the encoding process nor the Plex client since I made the same tests with the same scenes with the pure ISO file played directly with VLC and jRiver. I may very well jetisson the Shield because of this poor video quality (4K Sony projector). It is a pity since when it comes to ease of use, Shield is the most capable one.
