I am looking to test streaming speed on my local network; I want to stream to an area with poor wifi and stream 4k DV content. Is there an easy way to test this? Like speedtest.net but only to my local server on the same network/wifi
I could do it with android or a windows laptop
Unless you perform the test with the actual device (i.e. the TV) it won’t mean anything.
Your laptop or phone might support a different WiFi generation, or will support a different number of concurrent streams (spatial diversity), or have a different method of connecting the wifi module to the system – resulting in potentially vastly different wireless performance.
Rule of thumb:
If you want high resolution on a large screen, run an Ethernet cable.
If you can’t connect the screen directly to Ethernet, place a wireless access point in the vicinity and run Ethernet to that.
