@ChuckPa
If you could move the other posts here that would be good…
If I understand it - The Admin can’t leave the Home.
The best that can be done is to remove the pin and don’t use it.
In Users and Sharing I see I’m the only one in Home, it’s unlocked and I try not to think about it…lol
Yes.
You are still the server admin. The account is still yours.
The only thing you’ve removed are “Home Users” (managed users without real Plex accounts)
When you do this,
- You open the server’s URL
- You no longer need to “Select a user” and enter a PIN (<— CLOUD AUTH HERE)
- You load the page from the server.
I’m setting one up now in my VM and working out all the steps.
I believe, ( I welcome anyone else to step in here), is to remove the users then delete the home. I do remember seeing a delete button. I don’t remember where yet.
I will work it all out and post.
App.plex.tv -> Users & Sharing
- I removed the test users I created
- I removed my pin.
- Close the browser
Open the local server via LAN IP.
When I go to Users & Sharing on my test server I see all the users on all the servers.
I just want to try this on the test server, It only has my admin account guest user and my test user. that are also on all the other servers…
So do I delete the guest, and test user, remove the pin from the admin user (me) then what?
Also if you want to move this to it’s own tread do so…
If you have “Guest User” then yes, remove the guest user, the other users of that home then your pin (as last step - otherwise you get locked out)
Just an update…
Ok did what you suggested…
But now the guest and my test user are not on any of my servers even the active ones…
I tried to access my server from a Fire Stick and it required me to re-link it.
Users that were on the server are no longer, not sure why haven’t heard yet.
Posts relocated here
Juice is saying it better than I.
The home is always there but, without pin, you don’t see it.
It’s not actively used, there are no calls to the cloud for auth.
Well I logged out of Plex.TV and now when I login I get the usual home screen with my icon and I click it it goes blank with just the Plex logo…
Now what?
Grab the logs please and attach them for me to see what’s happening.
Noteworthy - I suppose - is that if something horrible happens, like you get added to someone else’s Home, Plex comes along and takes your keys away. Get out!
Or something like that.
In that very unfortunate event, I would imagine you attempt to leave any homes you may be a part of… will absolutely need a seasoned veteran in this area and I’m not that guy.
I will tell you what I see:
Users and Sharing - I am in the Home, it’s padlock is open.
I’m the only one in it and it calls me the Admin.
I see all my ‘Users/Friends’ in the section under Home, and I can choose to add more by ‘Share Libraries’.
Home is like my Castle - and nobody is getting across that moat - and I ain’t leavin’. I can see 'em, over there in the Village and they can watch my stuff if they want to.
There’s Plex Networking - as your Dog understands it (in my case, please send over your Dog).
That’s why I tried this on the test server but it removed them from all the running servers.
Including the pin to those servers…
Let me see if I can break my main server (which uses the same account) and then get myself out of it.
Can I pm the logs to you from that test server?
Dave,
Are you also a member of someone else’s home?
I just created the home and then removed from other servers. Since it’s plex.tv auth based, removing from one removes it from your account.
If you’re in other homes, did you leave them?
Not part of anyone else’s home or even a shared user…
I did try to create a new shared user account for me to test with but Plex keeps not allowing it saying i’m already a user… And I’m am used another email, does care for some reason.
