What the Heck?

I updated to the newest server version 1,7,idontknow to add the advertised live TV function. I had no problem with the previous versions… EVER!

Now, after updating, every time I play anything the server crashes… I mean an mp3, an mkv, or an mp4. If i try to watch live TV on my HD Home Run, I get 40 min of holy crap this works, then PLEX server goes bye, bye. I then have to rebuild/reinstall… At first I thought how weird, but now i’ts getting old… Really old!

I have to read a bunch of solutions from the forums here, some solutions work, some don’t…

Regardless, I have never had an issue until installing your latest update

I am now left with a server that no longer works because I upgraded, please give me instructions on how to downgrade my server to remove this “live tv” crap update.

Upgrading to 1.7 doesn’t mandate a server rebuild. LiveTV works if you have a tuner (SiliconDust, etc) just like it does with DVR.

What platform are you running on?

Can you go and grab the log files (the Logs directory), ZIP it up and attach it here? I’ll look and see what’s happening.

I’ll post my logs but, everything worked fine before…

I’m on an i7 running Windows Server 2016 (dedicated to PLEX), with all the latest updates to date of this post. I also have a NAS running Open Media Vault serving all the data, and a cable card inserted into my HD Homerun Prime with a 300+ channel subscription.

Everything was working… PLEX Guide picked up the 200 or so channels I added… Streaming media inside and outside the home… DVR feature was recording HBO etc… Now after updating to the live TV version I can’t do anything… I’ve tried a lot of things to repair, but no luck. Only able to repair temporarily… I’m super frustrated!

The live TV was supper duper cool… Until the PLEX server crashed… again, and again, and again, and again, and a… Now I just want to get my old PLEX server back up!

I’m zipping up all my logs and attaching, but not sure which ones will show the issue, so i have included them all… Obviously it was when the “live TV” version came out.

Currently, when I open the web gui at http://127.0.0.1:32400/, it takes forever to load, like over 10 min (haven’t timed it, just think “forever”). Then when I go to server settings it states “Sever settings are unavailable”. Then when I do a “repair” install, the web gui loads normally, I can access the server settings, and all seems well until I play any media with it… Then I start all over again.

I hope this helps resolve but If not, then what is the best way to downgrade?

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, super duper miss PLEX!

Thank You !

Hmm, you said your’re running on Windows Server 16 but your logs are showing Windows 10.

Are these logs from a different test machine?

Please make the following adjustments to your server general settings:
Enable Plex Media Server debug logging CHECKED
Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging NOT checked
Allow Plex Media Server tokens in logs NOT checked

Go into control panel and uninstall Plex. Reboot computer. Then down the Plex Pass version of the server again (unless you have it handy) and re-install it.

If still having problems post log files by going to /Settings/Server/Help and downloading them.
