What version of Plex Media Center do i use for OS X 10.7.5

I am using a Mac Mini running OS X 10.7.5 as my HTPC. Generally works pretty well, but if I click on a show before the theme music starts playing, Plex Media Client locks up. I am running Plex Media Client 0.9.5.4. I googled around and found some posts that say this behavior is fixed if you install the latest Plex Media Player package. I downloaded it, v1.2.2.55, but it will only run on OS X 10.9 or later. I can’t seem to find any old versions of Plex media player, and my Mac Mini, a mid 2007, will not run any version of OS X later than 10.7.5. If it matters, my Plex Server is running on a separate machine, a Ubuntu 14.04 server. What is the latest version of Plex Media Player I can run on my Mac Mini OS X 10.7.5, and where can I find it?

No version of PMP will work.

you can try openPHT -> https://github.com/RasPlex/OpenPHT/releases/tag/v1.7.1.137-b604995c

Trying OpenPHT-1.7.1.137-b604995c-macosx-i386.zip now, will post back if it works and helps.

Well, OpenPHT opens fine, signs into my Plex server fine, displays all my shows and movies fine, but crashes anytime I play anything. Is there another solution, or am I stuck with using Plex Media Client 0.9.5.4?

  1. try turning off all the hardware decode stuff
  2. post logs in the openPHT forum for them to look at

What version of Plex Server are you running?

Plex Server 1.1.4.2757 running on Ubuntu 14.04

I don’t think it’s a server problem, as all my other plex clients run fine, it’s just the Mac Mini that locks up. Unfortunately, that’s the client that runs the 60 inch flatscreen in the living room :stuck_out_tongue:

@Trudge , good call, disable hardware decode made OpenPHT work

OpenPHT has been working for a day now with no lockups! Yay!

You really need to upgrade your Mac. Anything older than 10.9 (maybe 10.10 at this point) has been abandoned by Apple and is EOL and no longer supported. You’re going to have progressively more and more issues as browsers and other stuff stop working, and you’re stopped getting critical security fixes long ago.

@sremick , sure, but new hardware costs money, and Apple is awfully proud of theirs, price-wise. I’ve been thinking of building a Raspberry Pi box to replace it, they had a sale at the local Microcenter with Raspberry Pis for 50 cents, I picked up 5 of them.

I have to run Mac OX 10.7.5 due top my SAN not supporting iSCSI after that Max OS. The recent upgrade of Plex Server Breaks several Channels including “The CW”. Where can I find an older server version download to go back to the version that worked (maybe 09.12.05). The 09.16.?? does not work with Mac OS 10.7.5 according to the Plex site.

More trouble now, same system. Plex plays any of my media fine on most of my clients, but my main client is the same Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.5. I run Plex Clients on it, Plex Media Client 0.9.5.4, OpenPHT-1.7.1.137, and the official Plex Kodi video add-on. Mostly use the Kodi add-on these days. About a month ago, suddenly started seeing that Plex client on this Mac, no matter which client I use, will play only mkv files, will not play mp4 or avi. It only happens on this client, on my windows clients, and phone and tablet clients, all files play fine. Unfortunately, as I stated above, this machine is the one I have attached to my 60" TV, and the one I use most. Since Plex Server is serving the files to the clients on all my other systems, which are playing them fine, I suspect a problem with the machine or OS on the Mac Mini client machine. But the same machine will play any file thrown at it via VLC, or through Kodi’s Exodus add-on, it’s just in Plex that it refuses to play any file formats save mkv. Any ideas?
