I have a movie that used to show up in PLEX in the Movie library.
For some reason it no longer appears. The file is still there, unchanged. The title appears to be correct. Titles with similar names were added successfully around the same time.
Since then, all other titles added have been scanned successfully by Plex. It seems to be just this one file. I’ve removed it and added several times to no effect.
I’ve optimized the database and cleaned bundles.
Thanks. The file in question doesn’t contain any triggers like the ones described here. Unless perhaps a dash (-) might make Plex think it’s a TV Show. But that seems unlikely for 2 reasons:
There are many movies with dashes in the title
This movie doesn’t show up in TV in any form
I’ll keep experimenting to see if I can figure it out.
What happens if I delete my database and start fresh? Will it remember all things I’ve customized (like tags for genre and collection or special posters?).
Thanks, Otto. I looked to see if any of the similar titles had 2 files (as indicated by the grey file count icon in the top left corner). None of them show multiple files. Is there anything else I should look for?
Wait a tick. I just found it. For some reason Plex had mis-matched it entirely. The names shared a single word (“men”) but were otherwise completely different.
As one of my experiments I had renamed my file, waited an hour, and just renamed to the original name. When I did, I saw a movie appear in Newly Added and it was the same as one I’d seen appear a few days ago. I didn’t recall grabbing that title but that’s not unusual for me.
Looking at the file info, I saw that the file was the one I just renamed. Wow. Good lesson for me. If I don’t see something expected, I should check the titles under Newly Added.
