Whats going on with plex app for ps3? Home menu only shows ‘on deck’ thats all! No recently added. Its seemed to lost all of its refining options and Movie and TV library home pages are gone! Have to flick through all thumbnails to find unwatched, like some kind of ‘lite’ version.
I’ve got the same issue. Having to add movies to playlist to get quick access to recently added stuff.
At first I thought there was something up with the app, re-installed it, then same problem! I also noticed that the Font has changed
Tried to remove all ‘on deck’ items to see what would come up on the home screen. Then it showed ‘recently added’ movies only in 4 x small thumbnails with no large thumbnail like it usually does
This is a very frustrating issue. I swore by the recently added. Additionally, the UI seems to be extremely slow with the last update as well (but that might just be me, and the quantity of content?)
Either way, bump!
Any ETA or info from the Plex team would be GOLDEN right about now.
Agree. Why hasn’t anything been said about it when it is clearly happening to a lot of people?

Same issue again here, has been like it for a few weeks now
Wish we were told what is going on at least
We are preparing a release that cuts down on the eye-candy and limits the amount of data that gets processed by the app, This should be released fairly soon and should help improve the situation.

Thanks, are there any new updates on this issue? I’ve noticed that sometimes the Recently Added section appears at random.
Just a quick other question. How is it possible that the Playstation3 is able to display and play such sophisticated games, but has issues with memory on the Plex app? And as far as I recall the Plex app only displays the movies and plays the movies available to you. Is it not possible to use a cache file on the harddrive for the library in stead of loading all that information from the server and updating only the necessary parts if the server version is newer than the cachefile? I’m just trying to understand this in contrast to all other things my PS3 is possible to do.
Nevertheless I was to thank you for Plex!! Keep up the good work!!

That’s something we get back from your Plex Server, it could be because recently added is only available when new items are available in your library?

The simple answer is PS3 is optimized for games, this kind of 3rd party app support was added much later and has many limitations that aren’t applied to full-on PS3 games, such as the amount of memory we are allowed to use,

well, we don’t actually have access to the harddrive, and if we did that wouldn’t help us since we are held back by the amount of memory. when the system runs out of memory it starts to use the hard drive, which is why the app gets so slow.
Hi there,
Same issue for me:
- Recently added movies showing on the web version, but disappeared from the PS3 interface (although it worked for years).
- PS3 app is really slower than before… browsing movies can take more than 10 seconds from one page to another.
Thanks a lot for you support !

Well I’ve read in this discussion that it is a Plex app issue, instead of an issue with the server. Suddenly all PS3 users see the same issues. So I’m not alone.
Nevertheless, I continuesly update the library with new items. It not only the Recently Added that have disappeared, but also the filter functions, being able to filter genre and whatnot.
Btw it works on all other platforms just not on the PS3.
Same issue here… would be nice to get this back to how it used to be…
I’ve tried to explain is before, but I’ll try again.
This is intentional. It’s not a bug, It’s not an unknown issue. We have explicitly limited the amount of media the PS3 app shows specifically because it’s an extremely low performance device and showing any more items would bring down the performance of the device to unacceptable levels.

kay.one. we understand that it’s intentionnal. but for me it was running very fine. my boys were using the by folder to find movies. now we have to browse all the movies from a to z. and it’s not very fast. you must put back by folder. on ps4 works very fine. by directory or by watever it’s not very usefull. can you give us back by folder.
or put on two versions on the ps store and let us, plex pass members decide which to use. it’s the first time i see a good app downgrade, and ps3 is fasing out anyway. thanks.
by folder view not working seems to be a bug, since the menu is available but selecting it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.
however I don’t understand how using folder view would be faster than using the poster view, won’t they both show the same list?
kay.one, try it on ps3, the only view working is all the movies, the 3 options do not work. the poster view is all the movies in my HD… showing by folder like the working version 4 month ago was very nice…
