I know a lot of people have been asking and I’m just one more customer making his voice heard. It’s not just a gap. Usually it clips the end of one song and the beginning of the next. On my stereo that’s pretty jarring. I guess I could always make Dark Side of the Moon a single track. I believe the first iPod had gapless. How long ago was that?
Thanks. I’ll check it out.
Hi. As a longtime user, I have to add that PLEX’s lack of follow-up on this is disheartening. PlexAmp is not an adequate solution–on some of my devices, the gapless playback does not work with this app. And franktly, asking users to download another app for what should be an elementary function is ludicrous.
Sorry to be angry, but when I signed up for PLEX Pass years ago, I assumed this was something that would eventually be addressed. The only PLEX article that even mentions this as a possible feature is dismissive about it (“Forget gapless playback!”), as if mocking people who’ve been asking for it for years!
My tuppence worth.
I got sick of waiting for gapless playback on Plex…It’s not gonna happen!
Buy a Raspberry Pi with a decent DAC hat and a USB hard drive. The Pi 3A+ is quite sufficiently powered and at around £20 it’s a bargain.
My software of choice is MoOde which is free (although a donation is welcome). There are others as well.
The forum is excellent with the programmer actively answering queries. It is updated frequently as well.
It plays ALL formats including Hi-Res FLAC, WAV and DSD (SACD) files (although DSD is converted to 176.4/24 PCM). And it is gapless to boot! No more gaps whilst listening to Pink Floyd and Jarre…Happy days!
All controlled from your browser on your smartphone/tablet. Just pop it at the back of your amp and forget about it.
I have never looked back.

Oh I forgot to mention…It reads from a NAS drive as well so you might no need another hard drive.
