Whenever I try DV P5, the colours are distorted. Blues become purples, etc.
I should mention, I am using the 2019 tube, not the pro. Maybe it’s time for an upgrade?

Ah… Now that indeed might well be your problem ![]()
The 2019 tube is renowned for not having enough RAM to cope with higher bitrate files, and so in theory this could also extend to how good or bad it can handle DV.
I agree it might be time for an upgrade ![]()
New Android build today:
Anything different?
It broke my DV playback on two of my Android TV devices: Chromecast with Google TV 4K (Android TV 12) and RockTek G2 (Android TV 11). It still works on my Sony TV (Android TV 10).
Stay away from it!
There’s been a few android builds since this was last updated.
Has there been any change of significance?
It’s been a couple months.
Anything different happen?
More updates for Android.
Are things the same?
It’s been a while. Any updates lately on this?
Is there please any update on this?
It’s been a month. Any update? We’ll take (almost) anything!
I wish that were the case. I’ve had a bunch of issues with DoVi Profile 5 on a 2019 Shield Pro.
Watching a DoVi Profile 5 .mp4 movie resulted in audio and video stuttering about 2 minutes in. The first 2 minutes were fine, and then constant stuttering. I listed it as a bug here: BUG: Dolby Vision playback initially fine then stuttering constantly on Nvidia Shield Pro
I also ran into an issue trying to resume watching a DoVi Profile 5 .mp4 movie on the Shield, after watching it on the LG WebOS Plex app. Trying to resume resulted in the loading circle spinning forever: BUG: Plex for Android TV (Nvidia Shield Pro) unable to resume playback of Dolby Vision MP4 movie
In my experience, .MKV DoVi files seem to work well on the Shield Pro, but don’t work with the LG app. .MP4 DoVi files usually work well with the LG app, but don’t seem to work with the Shield Pro. There seems to be some issue with the container.
You have to enable the Dolby processing on the Shield client settings.
Any update? Don’t want this to close!
It is easily possible; even with handbrake latest releases you just have to make sure you check the box for Passthru common metadata on the summary screen if using handbrake…if command line no idea what the string would be ![]()
Has there been any update on this?
Still waiting for an update on this.
It’s not completely true that the only Plex client that plays Atmos is the Nvidia Shield…
The Plex app on Samsung TVs also will play Atmos…
What I wrote three years ago was true at that time.
What you wrote yesterday is only partially correct.
There are two forms of Atmos for home theaters: TrueHD + Atmos, the type found on Blu-ray discs, and Dolby Digital Plus + Atmos, the type used by streaming services.
No TV, including Samsung, will passthrough TrueHD + Atmos from TV based apps. It is a TV manufacturer restriction. Most Smart TVs, including Samsung, will passthrough Dolby Digital Plus + Atmos from TV based apps.
If you want passthrough for TrueHD + Atmos, the Nvidia Shield Pro is still the preferred client, as it also passes DTS-HD MA and DTS:X.
Since my post three years ago, Amazon has released the Fire TV Cube v3 (2022) and the Fire TV Stick 4K & 4K Max 2nd Gen (2023).
The FireTV Cube v3 and FireStick 4K/4K Max 2nd Gen also passthrough TrueHD + Atmos. However, for DTS audio formats, they passthrough only the lossy DTS core.

At least if you use the official Plex App.
For example with Kodi Omega Beta you can Passthrough on the Cube v3 (i think also max 2nd gen, but not 100% sure) all of DTS - including Master Audio and X
