What is being transcoded when all streams are direct played?

Plex dashboard

You will have to ask Tautulli that.

You will have to ask the Plex API that.

Refer to this to see the raw data from the Plex API during the stream.

I believe displaying SRT subtitles forces a video transcode even in Direct Play, try disabling it & play it & see if it transcodes.

How do I do that? Is this not possible in the Plex interface?

I was under the impression that the “faded yellow” line indicated transcoder progress - I just don’t understand what it is transcoding.

Afaik that’s only if the audio stream is also incompatible - And as you can see my video is direct playing

Apparently this is a harder question than i realized:
Can anybody shed some light on what the “faded yellow” line represent?

I always thought that was how far ahead the device has in it’s buffer, do you see a similar faded bar on the play back device (down arrow) (I could be mistaken). Also while this is playing does the dashboard show any significant CPU usage?

That would mean my Samsung tv can buffer aprox. 20 min. This is not the case - device buffers can hold a matter of seconds of media.

No

No, between 5-10%
