When clicking on content I get a "Something Went Wrong, Retry" message repeatedly, but then it works

I ask this because I’m trying to eliminate possibilities.

If you could say: “Worked find on 1.27.2 but started having problems with 1.28.0” then we’d have something definitive.

Likewise, if we go back a bit and say, “Worked find on 1.26.x but started having problems with 1.27.0” … that would also be definitive.

Coming to the forum and asking for help with a “issue” which has been happening “for a few months” REALLY makes it tough to nail down.

Let’s see if maybe we can reconstruct the problem.

  1. How many media items, in total, do you have Indexed (Movies, extras, TV episodes, Music, and Photos)
  2. If you have a lot, and would be willing to share a list (which we’d create) in private, I’ll try to recreate your problem in a VM.

Movies: ~8,000
TV Episodes: ~119,000

I’m happy to do whatever helps with the fix.

I really try to do my own troubleshooting before dipping into the forum. I’ve had lots of issues over the years, but this is the first I’ve not been able to figure out. I actually didn’t notice it right away, because it developed as slow reactions on AppleTV - but no error messages.

If anyone comes across this issue… I tried a million different things to try to fix, including a manual database rebuild. Eventually I gave up and ended up starting a whole new library directory, then using some sql to move watched statuses and intro markers.

The server now runs SMOOTH as SILK. Faster than ever. Sorry I don’t have an easy fix for you - but I could have saved a lot of time troubleshooting by just blowing it up and starting fresh.
