I’ve been using Plex’s service wrapper for the longest time and one of the key shortcomings of doing it like this was losing out on a hardware transcoder as a Pass subscriber (but not having to constantly be logged into my home server and having it restart on reboot was still ultimately worth it).
It was enough to make me seriously consider migrating my server to a Docker container since apparently that could enable hardware decoding while still maintaining the ability to run the server in the background (plus deploying things using Docker has become the new hotness for my home server adventures in general) but as I was doing my research for this and comparing it to the Plex service wrapper I saw that the hardware decoding restriction on the post about the service wrapper on these forums struck through the comment about PMS as a service disallowing GPU decoding.
Upon visiting my server, yeah, I’m able to select my server’s GPU now. So what happened? Did I miss something or is this a recent change?
