When I pick a “version," show me my flag

These files are named as follows in my library
Spider-Noir.S01E01.Step.Into.My.Office - Black and White
Spider-Noir.S01E01.Step.Into.My.Office - Color

The text in yellow in the following screenshot is what I would like it to show when I click on “Watch Version”

Does that make sense?

Edit: similar request here though the {editions} feature will add a flag to the library view but also shows each episode twice in the library. “Versions” leaves the episodes stacked.

You seem to vibe mixing two concepts.
I would argue, those are two separate editions as they have a different content (while versions are considered to be different-quality files of the same cut/edition).

There’s an existing suggestion, asking for an option to merge different editions into a single library item:

Workaround:
Assign all alternative editions to a collection to hide them from the main library view (e.g. a single „Alternative Cuts“ collection or splitting them in different groups based on what type of editions you have → extended, different language cuts, colored vs. b/w…). This will only leave the „default“ edition in plain sight and the alternatives can be accessed via the „Other editions of…“ hub on their details page.

As for treating it as a different-quality version… there’s an existing suggestion to show more information on the version picker (ranging from more technical details to edition labels and the complete file name for better distinction).

Your workaround, albeit labor intensive, seems like it would get the job done. I’d prefer a solution that works at the file level in case my Plex installation gets corrupted or whatnot and requires a fresh install.

So an official solution to the problem would require implementation of a feature request from 2022 which is still not officially supported, or perhaps implementation of a different feature suggestion from 2018 which is also still not officially supported.

Or there’s someone else with the same problem I have from the same show who proposed a similar solution yesterday (added as an edit to my first post), only to have his suggestion merged with one from 2023.

I’m not very active on this forum so maybe I have an incomplete perspective, but it seems like this is a problem about which multiple people have asked for a solution but not yet gotten one. Kinda frustrating, that’s all.

And btw I’m not vibe mixing the two features. I use both and am very familiar with how each works.

Looks like an expanded on / duplicate of this existing request:
