I only seem to have this problem with music files. It mostly seems to happen with non-commercial recordings (such as personal recordings). I set the files up in itunes first, with tagging for artist, contributing artist, title, album, etc.; and the files are organized into folders by artist > album > song. The song titles exist in both the filenames and the metadata tags. Until I import them into Plex, which seems to ignore my tagging almost completely.
I have repeatedly found myself with album song lists consisting of identical names: the artist’s name. Then I have to go in and manually reenter all of the song titles. Sometimes they don’t stick the first time and I have to do it again. I cannot find a way to add additional information (such as contributing artists, composers, etc.).
I checked, and my settings call for “prefer local metadata.” What am I doing wrong?
