When will the grid style guide be available on xbox? It’s IMPOSSIBLE to use xbox to actually watch TV … can’t even tune to a channel.
This was one of the biggest things I was waiting for but have completely given up hope. Roku seems to be getting all of the development resources around here
is plex going to desupport game consoles?
I don’t think so, but they do seem to be extremely slow to get features added
I would love to see Plex focus more on feature parity rather than bringing out extra features for certain clients
Other devices have had it for over a year. Plex app on xbox has had a pretty sizeable chunk of issues as well. Sad, really
Just adding my +1 here.
I was a long time Windows Media Center user and regular over at The Green Button. WMC as a DVR was fantastic and had a great UI (IMHO), but had limitations in terms of media library manageability and streaming support was limited to xbox extenders (and decicated extenders from people like Linksys).
I took the plung 6 months ago and moved over to Plex, bought a Lifetime Plex Pass and a HDhomerun Quattro. I love the library side of things but the DVR is a little lacking
As such I would really like to see:
- Grid view across all clients (The xbox one client is my primary client and my only 10 foot UI).
- Support for DVB stream guide data - to allow real-time adjustments to scheduled recordings.
If memory serves, Xbox was the first to get the new and improved UI just over a year ago. When it eventually rolled out to the Roku, that’s where the severe backlash happened, and they’re working to address it with that larger crowd.
The updated interface that’s been favorably received there (and includes a grid guide) will start rolling back around to other clients soon. I don’t think they’ve abandoned consoles. I think they’re focusing on getting the interface right before making the rounds to port it elsewhere.
It was a pretty big UI reversal, and I’m sure it took an “all hands on deck” approach to fix. Pretty sure the Xbox will be addressed in order.
I’ve started using Emby — their grid guide is fantastic on the xbox…
Any idea when this might be implemented? Without the Grid Guide it’s so cumbersome to browse channels.
I used to be solid in this opinion as well, but then I got Sling, which at the time didn’t have a grid. I got pretty used to browsing by actual shows, and not caring what channel they were on that when they finally introduced their grid (which I was loudly advocating for) I found that I didn’t use it very much.
I get that not everyone will have that experience, and it’s definitely nice to have both, as sometimes I like to put on a channel because I know what they’re going to play coming up.
When will you finally implement the grid guide?
I also see it is missing in PMP when TV view is enabled.
Hopefully the console clients are based off this view and all will gain this functionality soon.
Bumpp
Can we get a response on whether this is even being worked on? I gave up using Plex on my Xbox One because Live TV is horrible to use on it, and the idea of Plex in my mind is having everything together.
I mean you can’t even see what channel anything is on until you click into a listed show description. Also ‘Starting Soon’ won’t let you switch to the channel something is about to start on either.
At the moment the whole thing is pretty much useless on Xbox.
I’d be willing to wager that it’s definitely coming. They’re working to unify all of the interfaces across all devices with a consistent look and feel. They’ll eventually circle back around to the Xbox, rest assured.
The only real question, is “When?” and history dictates that Plex never answers this question.
I hope you didn’t forget about this one, it’s a HUGE drawback in the Xbox One Plex experience.
We are only getting some cosmetics updates with eventually useless features.
Eager to get something useful the soonest…
Bump again… this is a major feature
Adding my +1 to this, and hopefully see it in PMP as well.
+2 this is a must needed feature
Not having this feature available on the xbox is a definite let down and makes watching tv less intuitive by not having the grid guide.
Please roll this feature out asap.
