My question is, how long will they be unavailable?
Plex mixes are the #1 reason I’m a paying subscriber, and as a paying subscriber to have such an important feature simply removed because your engineers chose not to bother developing the new one in parallel so they could be swapped out when the new one is ready, is extremely aggravating. My entire family uses them heavily, both for personal time, but also while entertaining. We pretty much stopped creating personal playlists because they became so ubiquitous for us.
I can maybe understand if you had come out and said “they’ll be back on ______”, but there’s no info other than “we’ve turned them off”.
Thanks for the link @drzoidberg33, though at the risk of asking the same question… why could a replacement not be developed before eliminating your relationship with Gracenote? Instead you guys have removed one of the most important features of the platform with no replacement and some ambiguous statement that it’ll be back in the future, this feels like an “engineers solution” rather than a well thought through business decision.
Plex Mixes were the single reason I switched to a paid account. I have to admit, I’m feeling a little ripped off here. Would love to get some info on what it’s being replaced with , and when.
Still waiting for an update from the Plex team on this. There’s complete radio silence on anything related to Music library functionality. When is an enhancement slated for release?
Just a bump, before everyone forgets there was that wonderful auto-generated playlist that worked 10X better than any of the current “Radios” we’re stuck with right now.
I might be mistaken, but I thought the new music system retrieved data from MusicBrainz and AllMusic. AllMusic has “mood” and “style” information for individual tracks as well as albums and artists. I hope Plex can retrieve that info and give us back the music feature I used most often while listening to music.
Plex team: Please, please, please reply with some additional details for us! Just as @rdehaven stated, the Holidays are when I use the Plex Mix feature the most, and am really noticing its omission right about now.
I understand there are business reasons as to why the change was pursued, but when the “Important Information” posting indicates they “will be temporarily unavailable”, and we’re going on half a year since that post (and when they were taken away), it’s obviously frustrating to have no further details available.
You certainly would make a lot of Plex users very very happy, if you had a Holiday Surprise in store for us…
Is intolerable that they remove the Plex Mix function without a prior notice and doesn’t stays implemented again. Gentlemen of Plex, the users have paid for a service with some characteristics and is unacceptable that they treat the consumers (specially the lifetime users) in that way.
I too am a lifetime subscriber and would like to know the status (If any) of bringing Plex Mix back. Please communicate with your customers. Even if it is bad news at least it will have been communicated. I’m currently uploading my music library into google play music which provides a similar feature at no cost.
I cannot agree more to the frustration and continuous request for insight into when this feature is going to be back - if ever! And a number of them are/were paying customers and should & would expect a better service experience. Hopefully 2020 will see a much better and more coordinated management of service management from the Plex Team!
Adding myself to the growing list of frustrated lifetime plex pass subscribers that used this feature quite often. Looks like this is getting pushed to the wayside in favor of Tidal…very disappointed.
Add me to the disappointed list. I just signed up for Tidal thinking it would be great to fill in my personal collection and get better plex mixes. I hadn’t used plex for music in a while I guess and today was trying to figure out where plex mix went.
