When will the new Plex Experience app be launched for LG webOS?

The current old app is a complete joke, so I can’t wait for the new app! :slightly_smiling_face:

No ETA or other announcement for other platforms yet. Keep in mind this is a preview, no full-scope go live

OK I see, what a bummer. I thought the app was already finished for Android and iOS. So I guess it might take months to develop the app for LG’s webOS. :anguished:

Hopefully not soon. Plex on my LG C9 is already running much slower than it used to a couple of years ago, probably due to increasingly bloated updates. I can’t see this making it any better, more likely slower again.

I wish I could side load older versions on my LG but I cant.

ditto, Plex app on C9 is awfully slow now…so bad i now use a firestick for Plex.

It will remove music and photo features from LG Plex without any proper alternatives. That is the new Plex Experience. I would be careful what I ask for.

I would be really surprised if the app will stay this slow, because isn’t that the whole point of this new app, to fix the problems with the old app? I hope it will become like the YouTube app, very fast and smooth.

To clarify, I’m only interested in movies and series that I can stream over the internet via the Plex Free app. So I’m not using any other features.

I think it’s shocking that Plex has got so much great content, but I haven’t been able to use the smart TV app for 3 years now, because of buffering issues, and the app itself is very slow to navigate.

I mean, Plex is a company with $50 million in revenue, so hopefully this new Plex Experience app will fix these embarrassing problems (on PC, phone and TV), once and for all.

You’d be way better off investing in some kind of “streaming box” rather than relying on apps on “SmartTVs” being updated regularly.

I haven’t got any major problems with other streaming apps on my LG smart TV, which is almost 4 years old. Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+ and HBO Max work just fine. It’s only Plex that I have problems with.

I really hope we get a more responsive app.
Using the official app on my G4 is quite annoying. It’s soooo slow compared to anything else.
I used to use xplay as a client but that’s no longer in development.

Netflix is even better on webOS than on Apple TV. It streams better (quality-wise) and the UI provides more info about selected movies and TV shows.

That’s surprising but as far as I’ve seen personally that’s the very single exception.

Most apps work fine (Plex isn’t one of them) or OK-ish but once I tried their ATV versions I couldn’t go back, Netflix aside.

I’ve just read that many people complain about the new app on iOS and tvOS, so I’m very afraid that it won’t solve anything. The thing that makes me mad is that I don’t see why I’m having buffering issues with the current Plex webOS app. And it only happens when watching movies and series, but no problems when watching ads!

So is there any news on when the new Plex Experience app will be launched on LG webOS? I haven’t read all of the other threads, so I’m not sure if the app is already finished on iOS and tvOS.
