Where are Web Shows?

Server Version#: 1.13.10.352
Player Version#: n/a

Hello!

I’m running a new version of Plex (see above) but I cannot seem to find the Web Shows on it? Not in the account settings via the web interface on that PMS, and not in the main server page. But I know I’ve seen it in the account settings previously and enabled it. What am I missing? Is it not available in the version that I’m running, despite it being new? I’m only running this version because it’s simply what installed via the Snap install instructions.

Thanks in advance. I definitely want to use the new Web Shows and hope I can find them in this server version or figure out how to roll over to one that does have it.

Edited to add: I’ve now checked and Web Shows are no longer showing up on my current working server running on Windows 10 (despite having been there before) and they are also gone from my account settings on that server interface, and I’ve enabled it from there previously. They seem to have disappeared. I have a lifetime PlexPass and that’s showing up correctly in my account. Have the Web Shows been pulled? On the other server, I’m running version #: 1.13.8.5395.

Check your account settings, make sure Web Shows are enabled.

Make sure you login via plex.tv, not directly to your PMS IP address.

Web Shows are independent of your PMS installation. You can have an account at plex.tv and have access to News, Podcasts, & Web Shows, even if you do not have a Plex Media Server installed.

Thanks so much, that’s brilliant. It’s dang confusing, however, because the Podcasts and News are both available via the local server address (and show up via the local server address in the main home view). But Web Shows doesn’t. Perhaps it will eventually show up there like the other two once it’s out of Beta?

PMS 1.13.10.352 is a ‘preview’ version, which still might have an outdated web app bundled with it.

Use the ‘hosted’ web app:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288666-opening-plex-web-app/

That is a misconception. The address bar of your browser shows you only the address from where the web app was loaded into the browser.
It has nothing to do with where the media content comes from, that is then available through the web app.
This media content can come from

  • the internet
  • your local Plex server
  • another Plex server of yours which is running somewhere else, but is signed into the same plex.tv account
  • the Plex servers of your friends
