I installed Plex on Debian Linux latest release. I installed da Quad TV tuner. I think it installed correctly. I have the channels listed in the guide. But when I try to record a TV Show I get Plex does not have write permission. What directory is it trying to write. Where do I tell Plex to record the TV Shows?
Have you created a TV Shows library?
When you schedule a recording, it will throw up a popup window asking just record that episode or you can select all seasons. Below that will be “Add to Library”. It will typically say “TV Shows”
Thanks. I don’t remember having to do that on my other system. Now that I have recorded a show using the folder I want. Will Plex remember that library for future recordings?
Yes, it will.
I just checked my other system and it has TV Shows when you modify a current scheduled TV Show. But the TV Shows on that system get stored in the library Recordings. The failing system also has TV Shows and that failed. When I changed it to Recordings it recorded the show. Not sure Why the other system worked and this one didn’t work.

Another question. When I see TV shows listed as the place to store the show I’m setting up. How can I find out where this folder is located. Also in the library how do you know where the listed library is storing the data. I know that when I added the recording library is brought a list of places to look for a folder to use.
If I understand your question correctly, go into Setting → Manage → TV Shows
Click on TV Shows, then Add Folders, that should show you the full path to where your tv shows are.
Do you also have a library called Recordings?
Yes. That is where I want the TV Shows to be stored. When I added the library it gave me options about type of video the library will store. I clicked TV Shows. Now I have two libraries TV Shows and Recordings.
O, I messed up a little bit in my previous statement. Should be Settings → Manage → Libraries
Is there a Recordings listed there? If there is and you click on it, then Add Folder, that should shows where you defined the recordings to go.
