Which iOS app do I need to watch live tv? Is it plex server?
Go to plex.tv/downloads, same place you downloaded the Server software except click on the Get an App button, Step 3.
I have the plex app already but I don’t see live tv or dvr anywhere.
Did you upgrade to PMS ver 1.7.2?
For the iOS app, I would say just make sure your app is upgraded.
Did you complete the setup with a tuner device?
Yes setup was done and works on my windows machine and I have the up to date server. My iOS app is current too.
What client are you using on your windows machine?
You’re watching live tv on that windows machine?
What is your server version? If it is not 1.7.2 then you are not running the correct version. If you did not select Plex Pass when downloading the server software then you are running on the latest Public release not the Plex Pass release. Live TV on iOS will not work on the Public release.
Also worth checking if you can access DVR functions from the web app
Thanks to all. It turns out I somehow didn’t have the plex pass version of plex server.
i am using Version 1.5.6.3790 on my Plex but I don’t see the guide or live TV on my Apple TV or phone, am i reading this thread correctly that these are still in beta? I have the guide on my Mac and I have the Plex Pass. thanks

So first, for Plex Server (PMS) you need version 1.7.2 or later. Turn on “Plex Pass” in the update channel.
Second, Live TV is not on Apple TV yet. It is only iOS devices and Android TV devices (not Android app).
And yes, it is still considered in Beta.
@rsava
Just to be clear, when you say “not Android app” do you mean the “Plex Android app” ?
If yes, then how can I play live tv on my android v7 phone or Android tablet? Or are they not yet supported.
I’m running PMS v1.7.3.3937 and Update Channel is PlexPass.
Plex Android App is v6.0.1.523
many thanks,
John.

Correct, I mean the “Plex Android app”.
They are currently not supported. They will most likely be eventually but Plex does not give timelines on development.
Currently the only way to watch live TV is with an iOS app (iPhone or iPad, not Apple TV) or an Android TV (i.e. nVidia Shield, not any of the Android apps).
@rsava
Many thanks for clearing that up for me. It is not clear in the promo info put out by Plex. I have DVR setup on my PMS server using a HDHomerun Connect on my network. I was hoping to view LiveTV when I am overseas but guess I’ll have to wait for the Android app to be updated.
regards
John.
Rsava, thank you for clarifying on the apple TV, explains why i don’t see the guide there. I also bought the HD Homerun and am looking forward to the Apple TV update. I went and downloaded the the latest update which it said was 1.7.3.3xxx yet i am not sure why or how to watch it on my iOS device (iPhone 6s). I dont see it on my phone, I thought i would have another tile that says program guide or something like that.
@BlackNotice - That is your problem. You are on PMS version 1.5.6.3790. You need to be on Plex Pass version 1.7.3 for your Plex Server. Change your update channel to Plex Pass and install the update.
Then you will see “Recording Schedule” and “Program Guide” above Playlists and Channels.
If something is on right now, shouldn’t i have the ability to watch live TV on my Safari browser on my mac? I have seen some images and videos of a ‘watch’ button, all I have is record.
I also don’t see the the program guide tile on my iPhone\ipad and therefore cannot watch live TV on that either.
sorry for being a pain and thanks for the help
No. Live TV is only available on iOS and Android TV.
Only the primary/admin account can currently access Live TV on the supported platforms. So if your iOS device is not signed in with that account you won’t be able to view Live TV. If you are logged into your Admin account perhaps try removing the app on the iOS device, and reinstall.
thanks @johnm_ColaSC , deleting and reinstalling did the trick!
