Sorry for the novice question - but the ‘NAS compatibility’ information on here is way too techy for us beginners ![]()
We currently have Plex running from a WD Mycloud 3TB NAS drive (with a MyBook as a backup) and the Plex Media server is on a Raspberry Pi. This works well and was set up by my lovely techy brother in law a few years ago mainly for my growing film collection
Our MyCloud is old and no longer supported and we need to update it and more space. I’d quite like to take the Pi out of the equation as we don’t REALLY understand it - we just follow basic instructions to keep it up to date.
My instinct was to go for MyCloud again as we just about understand the interface and I understand the right ones could run the media server element too. However it looks like maybe WD are not mainaining these any more? The models look old and the reviews not good.
So could you lovely people please help - is there a beginners guide and/or recommendation to which NAS drive (around 5TB / mirrored or backedup) would be good to buy for Plex? We’re simple users and won’t be hammering it for much else (just photos and music storage) so budget end is fine. We do access remotely occasionally and are based in the UK if that makes a difference. A direct recommendation would be extra helpful.
Many thanks!
