I am running Plex on a Synology DS918+ NAS. I have noticed that there is a Synology App for running Itunes Server.
I also notice that Plex has a radio button under settings/plugins - “enable itunes plugin”
So, I see a couple of ways of doing this - I still want to have access to everything via Plex, but also want music and video retrievable via itunes.
Of course, all of this is so that I can then use my Series of Amazon Alexas around the house to play music out of the Itunes Library
Option 1. My existing plex music etc. is at /var/services/homes/plex/music (and so on for movies). I can set up the Synology Itunes server (I think) to point to there for music, and similar for movies(). In theory, I can play my music via Plex, Or Itunes, and I believe you can set up Amazon music to read from a Itunes Libary
It’s not clear how or if the Synology Itunes Server separates movies from TV Shows etc, but I shall go check that with them.
Option 2 - click the plex “enable itunes plugin” - what does this do? I am presuming that it perhaps turns on an itunes server within plex?
But there is little to no information on that… In theory, if that is the case, then I can also point my Amazon Music to it.
Are there reasons why one of these options might be better than the other?
