While streaming music Ambient mode overrides the Now Playing Screen

I have a Chromecast with Google TV which I like very much. One of my uses is streaming my music collection from the Plex Media Server on my Synology NAS to the Plex App installed on the Chromecast from the Google Play Store.

I very much like the Now Playing screen when doing so. It shows the Album Art, artist, album and track info. However, when I play music in shuffle mode through that app, the artwork and info shows full screen for 10 minutes, and then ambient mode kicks in. When this happens, the current song title, artist and album cover appear in the bottom left corner as a small overlay on top of the ambient mode image. The album title does not display here. As soon as the song changes to the next track, the small album art changes to the Plex logo and then the album art never changes again.

While it seems to be impossible to disable the ambient mode in Google TV settings, I am stuck with this annoying behaviour …

Can any of the developers please fix this ?

Server Version#: 1.31.0.6654-6000
Player Version#: 9.16.1.38616

Have you tried on the device itself? Look under system apps, there should be an Ambient Mode app listed. Disable that.

Found it. Disabled it. I’ll let you know if that fixes my issue …
Thanks !!

That makes it even worse : after 10 minutes the Chromecast with Google TV goes into sleep mode, stopping the music :frowning:

OK, I found a solution : I enabled “stay awake” under Developer Options. With the Ambient Mode app disabled and sleep mode now also disabled, it works like I want it
