Who is Jonathan Stevens?

Most of my Various Artists compilations are now attributed to him as artist. Just since this morning.

I use PLEX solely for my music collection. Recently many compilations have somehow been split out to separate tracks.

Do you have “Prefer local metadata” enabled in your music library’s advanced settings? If so, ensure that none of your recently-added albums have “Jonathan Stevens” set as the “Album Artist” in its metadata.

I can’t find “Prefer local metadata” setting.

How to enable “Prefer local metadata”

  1. Navigate to your library in Plex and click Edit.

  2. Select the Advanced tab on the left.

  3. Check the box next to Prefer local metadata.

  4. For music libraries, you may also want to adjust other settings in this dialog, such as setting the “Genres” dropdown to “Embedded Tags” and “Album Art” to “Both Plex Music and Local Files” or “Local Files Only”.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Thanks. Prefer local metadata was already checked.

Jonathan Stevens still has 171 albums in the library. I guess I’ll have to edit each one manually. Still can’t figure out who he is.
Is there a way of specifying a various artist compilation in the Plex browser? I generally do the metadata in Meta app before moving to Plex server.

Not a good idea. Better to identify the track which either has no “Album Artist” meta tag in it, or to find the album which has differing Album Artist tags in a track.

Yeah. That’s what I mean by manual editing. Changing “Album Artist” on each “Jonathan Stevens” compilation to Various Artists.
Then I’ve got to go through several hundred compilations that for some reason have be split off to separate tracks.

Is there any way to search and edit Playlists without going through each track?
