Who is manager for translating PLEX on Samsung Smart TV?

I need to contact some manager for translations of PLEX app on Samsung Smart TV. Is here anybody from Plex empoyees, whoc can help me?

This is the translation project for the Plex Samsung Smarthub app. Which only runs on Samsung TVs from model year 2012 to 2015.

This client was developed by an independent private person. He recently stopped supporting this app due to health reasons.
So you won’t see any issues getting fixed, unfortunately.

thank you for prompt reply. So, I have few questions:

  • what is successor of that stopped app?
  • where is it’s strings (is it “plex.tv/API”?)
  • is it possible to do anything with original app, or it is stopped completely?

There is no successor app, unfortunately.

What do you mean by “where are it’s strings”?

The app can still be used, if it is already installed or if it can be “side loaded” per USB stick.

Hi,
I mean, what kind of type of Plex player is used un TV younger than 2016 and up? As you said, it was app just for Samsung 2012-2015, so, which solution is used for recent models (Samsung, LG…)?
That was my point - which strings are used for these recent TVs…

Samsung TVs from model year 2016 on are using the Plex app for Samsung Tizen.

The strings of all official “Plex for Smart TV” apps (except “Android TV”) are contained in the project “Web Clients” on Transifex.

Great, that was what I already did. BTW, is same app (strings) used also for LG?
Anyway, thank you for explanation, I was confused totally.

LG is complicated. The recent models use the same “Plex for Smart TV” app. So the same strings are used as for the modern Samsung app.

But older models can have a (totall outdated) plex app written by LG themselves
or a 3rd party app called XPlay.

Thanks a lot. I am considering to buy LG instead of my old 2015 Samsung TV, so I needed to know status. Anyway, as I understand, there is no chance to update for old Samsung, right.

I’m also using a TV from 2015. Any update o this?

I am afraid, that no update will be ever done. I gave up and definitly buy new TV later this year.

Consider buying an external player device instead, if the TV is still perfectly fine.
If available in your country, go with Roku.
If you want higher-end surround formats to stream to your sound system and 4K, use a nVidia Shield.
