Why are my forums posts being moved?

Hi when i post in the plex pass forum it gets moved to another forum, I posted it in the plex pass forum because no one was helping me in the other forum and my question was just being ignored.

I remember there used to be a benefit of being a plex pass member of asking a guru but i cant seem to find that forum anymore, has that been removed as a plex pass feature?

Usually if something is moved, it’s because it might not be in the best place to help that person, such as posting about the Windows Store App in the Plex Media Player forum. It’s about us trying to ensure the people with the best knowledge to help you see your post. :slight_smile:

Actually, if I remember correctly from when the forum changes were made, the reason the “Ask a Ninja” forum was dropped (I think it is now combined with the “General Ples Pass” forum) is that it was misused more than it was used correctly and Plex decided that it really was not being used differently than the “General” forum.

Another related issue is that the “special” forums for Plex Pass users really do not provide any advantage except that is give many Plex Pass people a way to feel “special” without really being “special.”

No one should ever feel that a Plex Pass in any way entitles one to anything special as it does not. It is just a way for Plex to make some money from those of us that mostly like and use Plex. That is not necessarily a bad thing as a company that makes good software should be compensated for their work.

My personal opinion is that if a post is to be moved pr deleted it should ONLY be done with the permission of the poster or if it clearly spam or abuse.

A PM to the poster with what is being done and why is the absolute minimum that should be done as a simple courtesy. I realize that courtesy is an alien concept for a lot of Plex people but it is a concept that should be embraced or at least implemented by most folks in most cases.

In my day that was called Beta Testing.
Plex Pass members get to PAY Plex for the privilege of Beta Testing their software for them AND get ignored or treated inconsiderately for the price of admission.

As Dave said, we try and move stuff that will be best sorted under its respective category. It is a large influx of posts, so we aren’t able to handle all though the aim exists. Just as the Guideline states -

The best way to get the appropriate help is to find the most closely related section for the issue you are having. For instance, if you’re having trouble installing Plex Media Server on a Windows computer, then the “Windows” forum in the Plex Media Server area would be the most appropriate place to post.
If you don’t know the most appropriate forum for your issue or topic, there are “General” sections you can post in. Be aware that they may be moved to a more appropriate section by a moderator or ninja.

I actually got an answer to my question by posting a comment on the public news announcement from plex about Alexa, weird that would get a faster response than a dedicated forum but hey ho

I love plex I bought a plex pass way way way back when they offered the life time subscription for a one off fee, pretty good bargain I got there I think! I don’t mind beta testing and I appreciate the company is growing and resouces get tight and they start to drop the ball sometimes but i hope they dint don’t loose that closeness they have always had with their communiry via the forums which I feel at least the alexa forum hasdone recently
I know it’s New product and am happy to wait for it to grow and get better :slight_smile:

Just to add I had posted 4 times asking the same question in the alexa forum without any response at all which is why I came to the plex pass forum
