Why can live tv, plex movies/tv and music be turned off at server side by Discover cannot

I’m a little confused regarding why Plex Movies and TV, Live TV and Plex Music can be disabled at server level, but Discover is at client level. What is the correct architecture? What happens if I enable plex music on multiple servers, how is that managed at a user level who has access to both servers?

Another inconsistency is that I am unable to manage the Discover channels in my library settings like I can do with other libraries. I am forced to use the Discover channels that comes stock, both in the discover library but also on the home screen.

Because anyone can download the Plex client and use it with their services without being connected to someone’s server.

To further clarify, the server admin has control over the availability of online media services for themselves and for managed users; Discover was never available to managed users anyway.

Then why can I disable Plex Movies, Plex Movies at a server level if it is a client feature?

So then for consistency, Discover also needs to be able to be turned off at server level for own account and managed users. Why the inconsistency and different approach for Discover compared to the other online media sources?

The arrangement of turning these features on and off is a bit confusing, but when you understand how the impacts work, it makes more sense.

Having Plex Movies and other Streaming Services at the Server level only impacts you, and your managed users. Any regular user that you’ve shared with will still have access to these services, and I believe they also have the choice of enabling, disabling them.

Discover isn’t available for Managed Users, so this setting isn’t grouped with those that are. In fact, you can’t truly disable Discover as the coding for it is hard baked into your clients. You can only remove it from immediate view, but it will always be available if you deep dive for it. There’s some legalese involved so they can’t just outright cut it.

There’s a feature request for it to be able to fully disabled by each individual Plex user. And to be clear, this was never available to managed users.

I understand. I then wish that Discover was a feature that I could turn off for myself and my managed users. That would bring some consistency with the plex movies, music etc media sources.
