Why can't my TV connect to the server over the LAN?

Server Version#: 1.41.4.9463

From reading discussions, I’m not expecting remote access to work because I’m on T-Mobile Home Internet. I entered 192.168.0.0/16 in addresses allowed to connect without authorization. That fixed the web app on the server. But my smart TV on the same LAN cannot connect. How can I fix it?

Nothing is connected to the T-Mobile gateway except the Wi-Fi router.

Wi-Fi on my phone (and Chromecast, etc) is the same subnet as the router. Shouldn’t that work also?

I’ll try the suggestions below when I get a chance. I did fix a web browser over the LAN to https://SERVER_IP:32400/web/index.html by adding the Plex ports to the Linux Mint firewall.

The firewall change fixed the TV via LAN problem. I entered 1.1.1.1 in the router. Now Plex is working on my phone but only on WiFi - which is fine for me.

My first guess would be DNS-rebinding protection:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/#toc-4

There are some tips in that support article for ways to mitigate it. Specifically, using a different, public DNS provider such as CloudFlare (1.1.1.1) on your devices. The easiest way to do that would be to configure your router to hand out 1.1.1.1 as the primary DNS server, perhaps with Google (8.8.8.8) as a secondary. This is usually configured in the router’s DHCP settings.

Alternatively, you may be able to configure it directly on the devices themselves. But that would be a pain.

If you do configure it via your router, make sure to restart the connected devices to ensure they get the new DNS settings.

If that doesn’t work, please provide some more specifics about the actual devices you’re using (including your wireless router). We may be able to provide some more specific guidance.

Just to add…
You shouldn’t need to allow access without authentication unless you’re fully cut-off the internet (or that’s an option). This is unrelated to remote access.
