Why can't they fix the mobile apps?

Hi at all,

I am a plex pass user and still I cannot use plex on mobile (iOS and Android) anymore because it cannot find my “libraries”. Which is complete BS, because it worked on the older version. I know I can downgrade on android (very simple) and iOS (what a hassle!). But why do I have to? Why doesn’t Plex fix an error which they know at least since May?

This new “experience” has done nothing but cause instability and problems. Many features simply don’t work. It would be really nice to have some transparency and some acknowledgment from a plex employee about these problems and how they plan to fix them.

I am a long time forum user and have seen many feature request and bug fix requests (exo player stuttering on fire TV devices) from late 2017 that were never fixed. But THIS here is on another level. I am really considering the swap to jellyfin although I have invested in a lifetime plex pass years ago. Don’t get me wrong: I love plex, but this is getting out of hand now.

On my iPad it is not working any more. Seems Plex has installed some buggy updates!

I have 2016 ipad 9.7 inch pro model

Any fix?

The iOS UI redesign is a hot mess. I just don’t even touch it. It doesn’t work well. It doesn’t function well. From what I can see in these forums, it’s not acknowledged or cared about.

The new app is awful. Have to do like 8 taps just to find my Playlists. And then it’s Playlists specific to a library. So then I have to switch the library and scroll over again to Playlists to finally find the Playlist. There doesn’t seem to be a way to add that Playlist to my Home screen. (“It’s not YOUR homescreen, it’s OURS!” -Plex staff, probably)

Uninstall this trash and look for an APK site that has copies of the older versions, from when the app was good. (I have rolled back to the version from Feb 2025, ahhh lovely).

Getting APK’s isn’t as easy as it was back in the day… APKMirror releases them as APKM’s, which needs APKMirror’s own app (which is also terrible) to install the APKM’s.

Alternatively, you can download the Feb 2025 Plex APKM that APKMirror has on their site, and rename that file to .APKS, and use a (better) app called SAI to install the APKS file on your phone. Ugh, everything is terrible now! LOL

Or you could just use the official APK download source?
