Why connect to chromecast instead of rasplex

Hi, got something weird… I found out lately that when i use on my pc google’s chrome, and i go to my plex server via its local ip adres, and when i want to cast music, movies whatever to my rasplex, it comes up with a screen that i didn’t get before, it asks me to chromecast. I do not have a chromecast, and picking the public ip adres of my server is not going to direct my media to my private networkcable attached raspberry pi.
Where did this occur, i do not know, but only the Chrome version does this, Microsoft’s Edge gives me the options i need, rasplex and my phone.
How can i resolve this weird thing from chrome!

This sounds like you’re in the wrong forum. You might want to check if you have the Google Chrome Cast extension installed and you’re using the latest PMS version of 1.0.1.2396.

ehm, it is on my pc, the software program Chrome, you know to browse the internet? that one, when i go to my plex server via that internet program, like the internet explorer and firefox… i get also the option on the top right of the screen to select a player. On my laptop, same software, i get my rasplex and my telephone device as a player to choose from, my big pc gives direct a screen option to chromecast… I do not have chromecast, nor do i need it, i have raspberry pi and that works with Rasplex, yes, latest version, i keep it up to date.

As @benjaminwolf said, to use that icon you are talking about you need to install “Google Chrome Cast extension”. It is probably installed on your laptop but not on your PC.

ehm, chrome cast is an extension for the software program Chrome. ehm, you know extensions? ehm, like software plugins that extend the functionality of other software programs?

Uninstall an extension

To remove an extension from Google Chrome:

ehm, On your browser, click menu .
ehm, Select More tools > Extensions.
ehm, On the extension you want to remove, click Remove from Chrome .
ehm, A notice to remove the extension will appear. Click Remove.

ehm, If an extension has an icon in your Chrome toolbar, you can right-click on the icon and select Remove from Chrome to uninstall the extension.

Ehm, ehm, ehm, none of those answers helped me, sorry, i looked at first there, sorry that i didn’t mention that but the extensions is free from any plugin that should do this, so i do not know who or what installed it.
I think i’ll remove Chrome from Win10 and reinstall it to see if that helps…

Thanks for thinking along…

You can now get that even if you don’t have the extension installed. There was a recent change (I think it was the latest Windows update but it might be the latest Chrome) that started causing this popup. Follow the instructions at:
https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6349849?hl=en
to disable the media router and it should start working again.

Well, your answer was the right one TracerX, i had almost given up until i found the same problem occur on my laptop, so it must be something from either Windows and/or Chrome…
If you were a girl, i’d give you a big kiss! Thank you very very much!!!
