I am using Raspberry Pi as a Plex media server and it works well.
I have a question about casting.
If I sit at the Pi and open the web browser and then choose cast, I can see my chromecast.
If I connect to my Pi from another machine and select cast, Chromecast is not available.
Why wouldn’t I be able to cast from the Pi using a remote browser?
(All I know was this was working a couple of versions back, and looks like it got disabled. Maybe there is a way to override a setting so the functionality is back).
I always just connected directly with the server while in my home.
What is the difference using https://app.plex.tv/desktop while at home instead of local addresses? (I mean apart from it works now and you have to go to the internet to cast in your own home).
Does that make sense?
It is still a local stream. and that version will almost always be a newer version with updates and newer features first.
You need to use https even if you use the local web app due to a change in chrome. https://localip:32400 should work fine as well. It will come up with error that it is insecure but just proceed anyway and bookmark it if your browser can’t remember to redirect you
