I’m very disappointed in this decision:
The new interface was great, it only needed some tweaking. Why cave to a vocal minority?

Possibly their data shows that we’re not as much of a minority as previously assumed? There have been constant daily posts from upset users not just about the UI but about the overall functionality of the app which is still not up to par with the “legacy” app over a year later. I for one am obviously happy to see them starting to listen but IMO it’s not enough, and possibly too little too late. They’ve damaged their reputation quite a lot. They really should just bring back the old code and polish up the old UI elements without completely re-writing the app.
Plex never explains why they do what they do…you think they’re going to start now lol?
I think it looks really weird on the left.
Almost all streaming Apps use a Top Menu Bar.
This new new experience is a step backwards, (and not in a good way)
I want the top menu back or I’m switching to Jellyfin!!! ![]()

Also, this feels more like an exec decision to show “value” by having a highly visible “new direction” that looks better on PPT slide decks and\or resume building for a job transfer (“Instrumental in implementing UI redesign”). ![]()
I do not have a dog in the top\left fight. I got my clock back so I’m pretty happy.
Not sure why they just don’t make the Menu placement an option now.
Very unintuitive having the menu on the left, and sloppy that when a Library is selected, guess where the menu appears, yes, back to the Top!
Absolute mess now, at least with the top manu, there was order to the flow.
Why did Plex cave to the vocal few who are unable to adapt to a new UI in a year?
I’m just seeing it for the first time tonight on the Android TV and oh my freaking God I hate it get rid of it. It sucks guys!
navigation is slower and bulky now. loading is slower now, and you got rid of watch together support boooooo!!!
I assume you mean the entire “New Experience” app, not just the switch from top menu back to left-side navigation?
Finally! This should not have taken over a year. I still might stop using Plex over this. It’s been ridiculous that such a large amount of negative feedback had to continue for over a year.
I know I’ve said it twice already, but over a year? Why did it have to take so long for consistent feedback to take root?
I’m still not sure I like this attempt at a return to a left menu, but I’ll at least try it and share feedback when I have it available.
There are 4 choices in the Left Menu (there’s a lot of real estate there) and the need to expand the Full Left menu? All that does is ADD ONE MORE CLICK (wasn’t that a BIG COMPLAINT, the number of click?)
Should be a user defined list of quick choices.
Two Clicks o get back Home when One should do it
To get Home: Left, UP, UP # of where you are, Highlight Home, CLICK
With the Top Men, Back, Back, Left.
The Left Menu is a mess., return to the Top Menu.
The Left Menu is a slop of the old UI tacked onto the New UI
The new UI is genuinely bad. Got the update on my NVIDIA Shield TV last night, and I am amazed it got past QA testing (they totally test things, right?). It’s a laggy, unintuitive mess. Press “back” in the wrong place and it exits the app entirely, instead of requiring a double-tap to exit.
Plex is rapidly becoming a joke to use.
You can’t please everyone… Someone is always going to complain lol…
