Why do some movies show up as SD, and some as 480P

Server Version#: Latest Beta
Player Version#: Latest

As the subject says… Why are they essential saying the same thing?

The primary difference is interlaces versus progressive scan .

SD = interlaced (525 or 576 or ??? interlaced per frame)
480p = 480 lines of progressive scan per frame

HMmmm 0 I see a heigth difference

Is that what triggers it?

I’ve seen this. It’s the width which plex uses. 720 will show up as SD whereas 852 will show up as 480p.

BTW… Similar thread here Android App reporting 480p incorrectly as 576p were you can see a 480 height comes into plex as 576.

I wish plex would pick one and go with it
