Hi, I looked around and couldnt find any relevant threads on this topic (except for something from 2014 which had no answers). My problem is that if I try to play a playlist that has over 21 songs on it (say, 56), it only actually queues up 21 randomly selected songs for that listening session. Is this done on purpose (unlock with plex pass) or a bug that is only happening to me?
Stan, not only happening to you. Iām having that same problem. I do not have a PlexPass but canāt see how this would be related to that. I went through all the setting on the server and found no setting relating to the amount of songs allowed in queue, nor did I find any setting on my FireTV Plex client. Hopefully youāll get a reply on this post with some answers.

It seems to be by design or, maybe, the Plex developers have problems counting past 21.
I wanted to use playlists somewhat outside their scope and intent, that I will not go into here, but the hard limit of ā21ā prevents them from being useful for my purposes either.
Thanks for all the responses! Anybody else can confirm if this is expected behavior? How do I get the attention of a dev or atleast someone from the plex team? Im considering buying a lifetime membership but not if the queue limit for media is fixed at 21 even though I have playlists that are well beyond that.
Iām having the same problem. Using the Windows store app and looking at the debug log, it seems that it places the files +/- 20 from the file I click into the play queue. For example, if I click file #1 in the playlist, it will add that file and the 20 files after that (so 21 files). If I click file #5 in the playlist, it will add 25 files (4 files before + the selected file + 20 files afterwards). So if I click in the middle of a playlist that is less than 42 items, then it will add everything to the play queue. Otherwise, it wonāt add every item to the play queue. I get similar behavior using the Android app, although I havenāt checked the logs from there, only the Windows app.
Not sure if this is a bug or a āfeatureā. Either way, it is not very useful.
I also want to mention that the Windows store app crashed about 3-4 times while I was testing this, adding the same playlist to the queue over and over.
How do we get around this? If I have 500 movies in a playlist and I want to shuffle them my que is locked at 21. Who thought this was a great idea and why? Too many limitations.
The idea that the playlist only displays 21 items, but will update as the final item is played is a nice idea but does not happen for me. The play queue indicates that the correct number of tracks are loaded but only displays 21 items (as advertised). As the tracks are played the list remains static. After the 21st track is played, the playlist automatically shifts to PAUSE and the next track goes back to the start of the 21 items ready to play again. I am casting to SONOS. but that does not appear to be a factor. Is there any way of making the play queue active?
This is such an annoying behaviour. I found a post from a Plex employee that states this is by design.
This is making my decision of switching to a self-managed Plex music library from streaming on Google Play Music very difficult. I have no desire to make the switch to YouTube Music when GPM eventually gets killed off. If Iām adding a bunch of albums or songs to a queue, I want to be able to manage the entire queue, without creating a playlist.
Iām using Plex Tidal integration and I have the same issue in both āsidesā. If want to play playlist of 50 tracks from start to beginning it āloopsā back to first song after the 20th. Am I missing some option in the settings maybe or what?
