Why has my PLEX suddenly stopped working

Good day,

I have used plex for years and over the last 3 or 4 days every time I try to play a file the app on my TV says that the file cannot be found. I have reinstalled both the TV app and the Media server on my computer and the problem still persists. I have also change the security setting as suggested on the Support and still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this problem?

You need to provide a lot more details about your TV, server and configuration.

And ideally logs from your server and TV - check support articles for how to do that.

I have the same issue. It tells me what platform to watch it on, but most of the media we normally watch is not accessible. Any idea?

It is doing this on my phone n my Roku tvs.

Thanks

With that little input we can only guess (sorry, I don’t mean to be rude or offensive).

  • It could be somebody who used to share their server/libraries with you, stopped doing that.
  • It could be a show that used to be available on Plex’ video-on-demand service is no longer available (license agreements with rights owners / distributors are often limited to specific periods).
  • If this is about media you used to be streaming from your own Plex Media Server… can you still access your server using the hosted web app or the server’s local IP address?

No offense. We I open Plex the Home screen is different, trailers are on top and Plex pick. I normally have Continue watching up top, followed by new movie, etc. The side menu doesn’t have movies, kids movies, shows , etc. I have reset the home screen, checked to see if I’m paid up, and tried to modify the home screen setup and can’t.

Sounds like either your server or that particular app might not be signed in with your account.
